Larry Avila

Mr. Larry Q. Avila 81 was born November 22, 1939. In Wyandotte, Kansas to Gilbert Avila and Mary Quiroz Avila. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and lifelong resident of Kansas City, MO. Larry was baptized and welcomed into the Catholic Faith at a young age, Larry attended Catholic School and later joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Larry joined hands in marriage to Ann Clark Avila they were married for 28 years. To this union were five children, Larry worked for the United States Postal Service, Railroad and General Motors which he retired from after more than 30 years. Larry believed that a man should work to provide for his family. Larry was well respected in his neighbor hood where he was known as papa. On January 16, 2021 he earned his heavenly wings.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert Avilla and Mary Quiroz Avila, wife; Ann Clark Avila, son; Michael Joe Clark, daughter; Angelica Michelle Avila, brother; Gilbert Avila and grandson Robiell Ramaro Avila. Papa loved spending time with his grandkids often telling them stories about his life. He was a mechanic in his pastime Larry loved having stimulating conversations involving politics, current events while drinking his coffee, he also enjoyed watching sports, but his favorite was boxing and tennis. Larry surely will be missed.

He is survived by children; Michelle Clark, Larry M. Avila, and Robert C. Avila (Shanta’ D. Avila) grandchildren, Michael Avila, Aleesha Avila, Dominic Avila, Monique Avila, Michael Pope, Dynasty Avila, Imani Avila, Miguel Barney-Avila and a host of cousins, nephews and friends.
