Listen to Obituary

Lawrence Brown Jr. was born December 4, 1936 to the late Lawrence Warren, Sr. and Albirdia Isaac Brown.   He was preceded in death by his parents.

He confessed his belief in Jesus Christ at a very young age and was baptized at Richland Baptist Church in Arcadia, LA under the leadership of Pastor L. S. Tobin. Lawrence united with the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO over 45 years ago under the leadership of Rev. A. M. Hudson. He served faithfully as Chair and member of the Culinary Committee, Men’s Ministry and Men’s Chorus, Usher and Trustee Board.  Since he was an excellent cook, he helped prepare many meals for our Annual Days, the Laymen early morning services, the Wild Game dinners and the City Union Mission, as well as assisting the WMU with funerals.  As a Trustee, Lawrence spent many days and hours caring for the needs of the church.

In the community Lawrence served as a Junior Warden, member of the Prudence Lodge #6, and the Korean Shriners.

Lawrence had many jobs but driving was his passion.  In his earlier years he drove for Smaks and Allen’s burger chain, and he retired from Beauford Truck Lines after 25 years of service.  He drove part time for L & L Bus Company for many years, but in 1998 fulfilled his dream of owning and operating his own bus company - B & B Tour and Charter Bus Company which was co-founded with his younger brother and one of his close friends.  B & B Tours and Charter finished its last load in 2012.

Lawrence Brown Jr. entered into eternal rest on August 28, 2019 after his illnesses.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife – Earnestine Grant-Brown, four sister(s) – Thedora Albrey, Zilla Mae “Sis” Moore, Cloteil “Mack” Brown, and Euretha “T9C” and three brother(s) – Lawrence T. “Warren” Brown, Dillard “Bud” Brown and Simmie T. “Slim” Brown and his daughter Sherri Conley.

Lawrence Brown Jr. will be remembered in the hearts of his children: Kermit Boston, Sheila Brown, Kimberley R. Finney, Pearlnora Henderson, two step daughters - Sheila Grant and Roslyn Jenkins; son-in-law - Earl Conley;  a special friend – Renee Shutt; three sister(s) – Hattie L. Williams, Pinkey J.
