Layla Freeman

Layla Amore Freeman, 21, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on May 13, 2025, on her 21st birthday. Known for her compassion, faith, and unwavering kindness, Layla touched the lives of many. A graduate of Crossroads Preparatory Academy, she continued her education at Lincoln University and Metropolitan Community College, earning her CNA certification. In 2024, she joined the IRS as a tax examiner.

Layla accepted Christ at 16, and her faith guided her life of service and love. Whether caring for others professionally or lifting spirits with her smile, she radiated peace and grace. Though her time was brief, her impact was lasting. Layla’s legacy of love and faith will forever be cherished by all who knew her.

Layla was an active and dedicated member of Victory Way Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Willie Culclager Jr. and Bishop John James. She served faithfully in the Young People’s Christian Workers (Y.P.C.W.) where she was a choreographer and liturgical praise dancer. Layla also led youth Bible studies, sang in the choir, and served as the creative director for numerous Y.P.C.W. productions. Layla is cherished by her loving family and friends and her memory shall live on in all those who knew and loved her unconditionally.

She is survived by her mother, Zeruiah Dennis, (Kwamie Dennis), Father, Troy Freeman. Sisters, Lida Culclager, Eboni Jones (DeAndre), and Jurni Wilson. Brothers, Julian Wilson, Deon Rodgers Jr., and Franscisco Najar. Maternal grandmother Patrice Culclager (Alvin Kidd). Uncle, Cedric Freeman. Aunts, L’Tanya Boyd-Freeman and Tamara Freeman, and a host of loving relatives and friends.
