L.C. Hawkins

Listen to Obituary

Mr. LC Hawkins a long time Kansas Citian was born in Ashdown, Arkansas on June 21, 1930, to the union of Eddie Nolan & Benjamin Hawkins.  Both parents, his loving wife of 71 years Pearl Hawkins, two brothers Benjamin & Willie, one sister Mae Francis and two grandsons Jerome & Alex Hawkins preceded him in death.

At an early age LC accepted Christ and joined Red Oak Grove Church in Arkansas where he was baptized in a creek.

As a young man LC grew up in Kansas City, Kansas where he met the love of his life Pearl Allen in 1948.  The two lovebirds married and moved to Kansas City, Mo in 1949.  To this union five children were born Joella, Brenda, Lawrence, Paul, and Larry Hawkins.  While the children were growing up LC spoke with a sharp tongue and you knew he meant business, but it was always done out of love.

After relocating to Kansas City, Mo LC became a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, serving as a deacon under the late Pastor T.B. Baker.  Later LC moved his fellowship to Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church where he was founding member under Pastor Frazier and served on the deacon board, trustee board and sung in the Male Chorus.

LC was an entrepreneur early in his life.  He had a television shop and later he had a vision to open another business, which in fact he did.  He opened H & S Food Service.  God truly blessed the business to be open for 33 years.  If you were ever in need of a job, LC always made room for whomever in need.  LC truly leads by example.

LC was a devoted family man who loved his children. Some of the things that LC enjoyed doing in is spare time was playing cards, shooting pool and playing dominoes in which, he enjoyed talking trash while doing so.

LC leaves to cherish his memories: his children Joella, Brenda, Lawrence, Paul, and Larry Hawkins all of Kansas City, Mo; abundance of grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and other family members; plus a special niece, Denise Hawkins who referred LC as “Uncle Daddy”.

Due to the COVID-19, please respect social distancing and face covering guidelines. Temperature checks will be enforced.
