Lee Edward Turner, Sr. (affectionally known as “Poochie/Dino”) was born in Kansas City, Mo. On March 31st, 1975, to Ruby Jean Turner. Poochie spent his life in the Kansas City area and was educated in the Kansas City school district.
Lee accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Greater Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Albert Colbert.
Poochie was his mother’s son; to know him was to love him and he loved everyone. This “big guy” was family orient and enjoyed a good “barbecue” gathering with some spades and dominos. However, playing video games especially “Madden” was his favorite pastime. He was an adamant “trash talker” with his favorite phrase being “BS izz nothing.” This big-hearted man would help a stranger and was a provider for many.
Dino departed this life on the evening of December 24th, 2022, at his home. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family. Poochie spent several years as an employee of the city of Kansas City and was employed by Belfontane ice cream company upon his death.
Lee was preceded in death by his mother: Ruby J. Turner; grandmother: Leola Martin; great-grandmother: Lucille Gant-Turner; grandfather: Dan Douglas Sr; great-aunt: Luberter Martin; cousin: Anthony Vanburen; and father-in-law: Larry J. Hawkins.
He is survived by his wife: Tennille Turner; four children: Derrick L. Johnson, Lee E. Turner Jr., Kennadee R. Turner, and Presleigh J. Turner; two grandchildren: Shyra P. Evans, Eamon H. L. Irven; three siblings: Karen D. Turner (Leo), Carnika R. Turner, Antonio L. Turner; and his best-friend/brother: Duane Doolin, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
