Leo A. Dorch

Leo Andre Dorch, 59, passed away on March 31, 2024. Born and raised in Kansas City on January 23, 1965 to Edward Dorch Sr and Allie May Hamms; he was #9 of 14 children between both his parents. Being the baby boy of the bunch made him special because he was adored by all.

For those that truly knew him, he was Dre, Big Dre, Unc, Uncle No Good, Daddy and Pawpaw (amongst other titles). On a normal day you were greeted with a smile, or his signature laugh after he cracked a joke. Though he loved to fuss, he was still always the optimist (or maybe a realist, it’s all about perspective) but was determined to find a way to do whatever it was he was asked to do.

It seemed Leo was a jack of all trades but only a master of one. He made it a point to pass on whatever knowledge he had; from lessons in life to being the best damn mechanic you will ever know. He could look @ a car or just listen to it and know exactly what the problem was. If Leo wasn’t @ the junkyard, he was somewhere in the town helping a friend or family member, on the phone talking to one of his siblings, enjoying a cup of coffee with a cigarette, watching one of his old western movies and the news or cruising around in his classic 1975 Jaguar after he took it to the car wash!

Leo shared his life with Faiza Muhammad for 41 years. With one of his greatest accomplishments being the family they created together. Leo was preceded in death by his parents Edward Dorch Sr. and Allie May Hamms, his sons Elijah Muhammad and Sharrieff Muhammad, also his sisters Lyndie Dorch and Shirley Davis.

Leo is survived by his children Kameelah, Aisha, Leo, Allie and Omaun. His siblings Vanessa/James, Angel/James, Edward Jr./Elaine, Cynthia, Frankie, Walter, Tommy, Mickey, and William. Eight granddaughters, seven grandsons and an entire host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
