Leola M. Day-Wallace (affectionately called Lee), 62 went home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2022. She was born April 14, 1959 in Morrilton, Arkansas to Dorothy M. Canady and Sammy Grant Day Sr.  The family relocated to Kansas City, when Leola was 3 years old. She attended Switzer Elementary and graduated from West High School in Kansas City, Missouri. After high school, she attended Tyler College in Bryant, Texas and later returned home to finish her education at DeVry University in Kansas City, Missouri where she received a degree in Computer Science. Leola received Christ as her Lord and Savior.

In 1978, she worked for Menorah Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri as a Unit Clerk until she resigned.  Lee went to work for Baptist Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri as a Unit Clerk in 1979. In 1980, she accepted employment with Bendix Ammunition Plant as a Computer Operator, where Lee worked for 34 years until 2014 when the plant closed under Allied Signal. In 2014, Lee went to work at Blue Cross of Blue Shield of KC and later transferred to Blue Cross of Kansas in Topeka, where she remained for 20 years until she retired in 2021. Lee also worked part-time at Stormont Vail Hospital and St Frances Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

Lee loved to sew, play cards, bowling and sports. Lee was a big Kansas City Chief fan and enjoyed watching the games with family, coworkers and friends.

Lee and Ron met through a mutual friend in 1984, who knew it was a great match and told Ron she was the perfect woman. Lee was hardworking and independent.  Later that evening, they went on their  first   date at a drive-in theater. There was a connection made through the love for bowling and watching movies. Lee and Ron married April 4, 2014 and the marriage was full of kindness, commitment and love.

Family for Lee was more than a word that denoted a group of relatives. Family stood for something in her life. It represented togetherness, love, commitment and a particular respect and honor for one another.

She was preceded into death by her Maternal and Paternal Grandparents; Father, Sammy Grant Day Sr.; Sister, Sheila Louise Day

She is survived by; Husband, Ronald Wallace, Topeka, Kansas; Mother, Dorothy Day, Kansas City; One Brother, Sammy Grant Day Jr., Kansas City; One Sister, Regina Bland, Jacksonville, Florida; and a Host of Aunts, Nieces, Uncles, Nephews, Cousins, Family, Coworkers and many Lifelong Friends.
