Leonard D. Armstrong

Leonard D. Armstrong, 81, passed away on July 27, 2024, at Centerpoint Medical Center, in Independence, Missouri.  He was born on July 28, 1942, in Calhoun, Mississippi to Leonard Armstrong and Jessie K. Armstrong.

He grew up in Bruce, Mississippi and attended South Calhoun High School.

Leonard began working for Clay and Baily as an Iron Worker. He retired in 1995 after 35 years of service.

He married Lizzie Armstrong in 1961, in Calhoun, Mississippi and they were happily married for 63 years.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Jessie K. Armstrong; his wife, Lizzie Armstrong; his daughter, Marie Armstrong; his brother Willie Lee Armstrong; his sisters, Bobann Armstrong, and Irma K. McCoy; and his grandson, DeMarcus Williams.

He is survived by Arlene (Anthony) Martin, Danny (Carla) Armstrong, Sandy (Karl) Chaney, Theresa Armstrong all of Kansas City, Missouri, Latasha Armstrong, and Damon Howard of Tampa, Florida; three sisters, Annie J. (Charles) Lake of Somerville, Tennessee, Sarah Goings of Memphis, Tennessee, and Joy C. Armstrong of Bruce, Mississippi; three brothers, Johnny L. (Dollie) Armstrong of Bruce, Mississippi, Danny L. (Von) Armstrong of Bruce, Mississippi, and Randy L. (Aretha) Armstrong of Collierville, Tennessee, 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
