Leonard Harold Watts, 73, passed away on August 30, 2025, at The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born on April 16, 1952, in Seminary, Mississippi, to Bernice Watts-Bullock.
He grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He graduated from Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio. After high school he attended Central State University in Xenia, Ohio, where he received his Bachelor of Science in physical education.
Leonard loved the Lord and was baptized at an early age in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
He began to work for General Motors as a technician, where he worked for twelve years. He later went to work for Procter & Gamble as a technician.
He loved his sports; his favorite teams were the KC Chiefs, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Los Angeles Lakers. He was even involved in coaching little league baseball and corporate channel baseball.
Leonard married Elizabeth on August 31, 1978, in Kansas City, Missouri. They were happily married for 50 years.
Leonard was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Watts-Bullock; stepfather, Henry Bullock; son, Leonard J. Watts; father-in-law, Robert W. Simmons Sr.; mother-in-law, Fannie M. Simmons; brothers-in-law, Robert W. Simmons Jr. and Michael Simmons; and brother, Charles Watts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth A. Watts; sister, Dorothy Morris; brothers, Ricky Watts and Jimmy (Lorraine) Watts; granddaughter, Kilen L. Watts; great-granddaughter, Karsyn Kearney; sister-in-law, LuCinda Watts; other nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
