Leonard D. Johnson Sr. "Lenny" passed away on September 5, 2023, at his residence located in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born June 26th, 1964, in Kansas City, Missouri to William "Billy" Wilson and Mattie Johnson. He received his education in the KCMO school district graduating from Job Corp located in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He later enlisted in the United States Navy and served 3 years. Lenny worked in various fields from mail handling, driving forklifts for Amazon, to doing what he loved most, his passion, cooking. He finally decided to enroll in The Culinary Arts & Food Preparation Program, graduating in May of 2002. He then would take those skills and his love for feeding the soul to senior retirement and living communities. One of his biggest accomplishments and titles was becoming the Director of Food and Nutritional Services at The Welstone at Mission Crossing. Lenny was big on family, loved hanging out with and spending time with his family, he always spoke highly of his children. Most of his happiest moments in life were when he was surrounded by family and friends, everyone was his favorite. He enjoyed and appreciated the love of family. On June 28, 2021 he married Barbara Drew. They shared a life together spanning over 20 plus years. He was preceded into death by his paternal grandparents Leo Wilson Sr., and Virginia Wilson. His maternal grandparents Dave Johnson and Lucille Johnson McCree. His father William Wilson, His wife Barbara Drew-Johnson, His sisters Danita Johnson, Nikeeta Robinson, and Tina Smith-Stepeson, his granddaughter Taylor Nicole, nephews Damon Johnson and Terrance Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother; mattie Johnson, his daughters; Danita Barr and Dalana Barr-Riley, his sons Leonard Johnson II and Xavier Johnson, his sisters; Yvette Hamilton, Rickie (Jack) Green, Uneeda (Darren) Roberson, Nika (David) Brown, Virginia Robinson and Aminah Robinson, his brothers; Billy Smith, Cornelius Johnson, William Johnson, Eththereol Robinson, Obon Robinson and Malik (Lisa) Robinson, 14 grandchildren, 9 greatgrandchildren and a host of family and friends.
