Listen to Obituary

Evangelist Linda J. Williams (Nee Jackson), age 72, went to her final rest on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Carondelet Place, a caring respite community in Kansas City, Missouri.  From her birth in Hamburg, Arkansas on January 21, 1947 to her death on Thursday, she emboldened the people around her with love, humor, style, faith and music. She was born to Isabell (Edwards) Williams and Jack Hubbard in a small close-knit town in southern Arkansas.  Linda was the third of nine children born to her mother. She grew up in Hamburg, AR and attended Ashley County public schools, including T. W. Daniels High School. After High school, she attended Tabernacle Bible College in Brooklyn New York, where she completed an Associate Degree in Evangelism and Christian Counseling.

Linda moved to Brooklyn, New York, and it is there that she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She was a long-time member of the Pentecostal House of Prayer for All People, where she was educated and ordained as a Missionary and Evangelist, spreading the gospel of Christ internationally.

She worked for Solomon Brothers in New York, and began work in Missouri at House of Lloyd, a toy party and catalogue company, as a packing supervisor, where she remained more than fifteen years.  She also worked for the Grandview Missouri School District in Food Services, retiring in 2002. Though she concluded formal employment, her involvement in mission work, evangelism, sewing and hospitality continued. It was her quick wit, ready encouragement, robust singing voice, kindness and acceptance that endeared her to biological and church family alike. She married Freddie Lee Williams on December 26, 1967 in Crossett Arkansas. They were happily married for fifty-two years.

Left to honor Linda and remember her love are her husband, Freddie Lee Williams and her four children:  Charlotte (Glenn) Williams-Rice, Grandview, MO; Derrick Williams, Tisa (James) Jones, Suwanee, GA; Johnathan Williams, Kansas City, MO; one great-uncle: Donald Ray Edwards, Augusta, GA; five brothers:  Willie James (Alice-Marie) Jackson; Freddie Hubbard; Charlie James Hubbard; Frankie Bunton; Stevie Robinson; five sisters: Billie Jean (J.C.) McDade; Gwendolyn (Ray) Lewis; Freda Edwards; Elizabeth (Benjamin) Couser; and Stacey (Bryant) Holmes; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. She touched our lives and we grew in its fragrance and footprint.
