Lola Anne Posey Cunningham was born December 8, 1935, in Vian, Oklahoma to John A. Posey and Ivory O. Posey. Both who preceded her in death. Siblings Glendale, Eugene, Betty, and Thomas also preceded her in death. Lola’s family consisted of her mother, father and five siblings, together they moved to Kansas City and remained throughout their lifetimes. Lola attended Banneker Elementary School and went on to graduate from RT Coles High School in 1954. Fondly called “Anne,” or “Mother Cunningham” by most, she mothered everyone she came into contact with. Lola met and married the love of her life JT “James” Cunningham in 1975 though they actually began dating in 1967. Though Lola did not birth any natural children, she cherished her relationship with stepdaughter Nicole Warren of Power Springs, Georgia. Nicole was the only child of her husband JT (James) Cunningham.
Lola worked for the United States Postal Service for 32 ½ years before retiring in 1998. After retirement, Lola became actively involved in her church’s food pantry at Landmark Church under the leadership of Bishop John and Bernice Brown. Lola served faithfully until she became sick, as one of the “church mothers” she did not take her role to mentor, love and instruct lightly. Mother Lola Cunningham gained her heavenly wings on Sunday April 3, 2022, at her home with her beloved “JT” and Shalom Hospice Care team. Lola leaves to cherish her life, her devoted husband “JT James Cunningham, stepdaughter Nicole Warren (Power Springs, GA ) one sister Gloria Snipes (KCMO), her very close cousin Mae McShan (Grandview, MO), Cousin Billie Taft (KCMO), brother-in-Law “Donnie” Cunningham (Forsyth, IL.), two sister-in-laws, Malinda Peacock (Shreveport, LA.), Rosie Netter (Viavin, LA.), close niece Janita (John) Smith (Houston, TX.), nephews Anthony (LaVera) Snipes (KCMO), Thomas (Leppa) Posey (Murfreesboro, TN.) along with a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends, and God daughter Tiffany Johnson.
