Londell Guess was born February 12, 1948, in Kansas City, MO. Londell was the sixth child of seven born to Escue Henry Guess and Ophelia Nettie (Roberts) Guess. He was proceeded in death by both parents and five siblings: Earl "Gene", Annetta "Nett", Henry "Jr.", Milton "Danny", and Wendell "Ronnie".
Londell accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age while attending New Hope Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO. He attended Linwood Elementary through the 6th grade. He then attended the 7th and 8th grades at Central Jr. High School and transferred to Manual High School where he graduated.
Londell served in the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge. After returning home from the military he married Linda Cobin, to this union one child was born. In October 1998 he was united in marriage to Palzetta Hill until his death.
Londell was a hardworking man. He worked for KC Southern Railroad, Armour Foods until they closed the Kansas City location. He then went to work for GEHA as the ahead mailroom clerk in their Kansas City, MO location on 40th and Main. Londell always wanted to drive so he started working for CCX and retired in 2012.
Londell joined the Greater Mr. Zion MBC under the leadership Rev. Joseph Fletcher. He was a faithful member of the GMZ Male Chorus until his health began to fail. He could not come to church as often as he wanted to, but he always had his wife Palzetta to come and stand in the gap for him. He always maintained his tithes and offering and other obligations and love for his church family and friends. Many of you at GMZ knew and felt his love and concern for you and your health. When asked about his health, he would say “I’m doing fine and how are you doing?” Even until the evening of his passing, Londell was making the family laugh and having fun. He would pick on any of us and make us laugh. He was doing what he always did. Making and keeping the family happy and laughing. Londell was well known to all of his truck driving friends. He stayed in contact with many of them long after retirement. He held your friendship close to his heart. This is what it meant for him to be Mr. Londell Guess. Mr. Guess must have had a greater calling. When God called his name and he answered, “Yes Sir”. God said, be at ease soldier, you are relieved of your duties and service. You are at the end of your shift; you may rest and transition to a new assignment. You are coming "HOME". Soldier, you are coming home.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Palzetta; only daughter, LaTonya (Bryant); grandsons: Brandon and Bryson; bonus son, Kelvin; granddaughter, Tyron; great grandson, Tylen; sister, Sandra "Sandy"; a special cousin/brother, Johnnie Roberts (Cecilia); three sisters-in-law; Alma Jean, Lydia, and Faye; one brother-in-law, Herman Hill of Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family and friends.
