Lonnell Mayberry Jr., 73, was born April 4, 1950, to his loving parents, Lonnell Mayberry Sr., and Florida Mayberry. His parents, grandmother Savannah Jamison, brother Terry Mayberry, son Lonnell Mayberry III, and ex-wife Opal Nelson, all preceded him in death.
Lonnell graduated from Manuel High School in KCMO in 1970. After high school he joined the United States Air Force and Navy from 1970 – 1978 and was Honorably Discharged. He began work for Hallmark Cards in North Kansas City, MO., and he enjoyed working there for many years.
Lonnell was united in marriage to Opal Nelson, welcoming a stepdaughter and three children. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and enjoying life to the fullest. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and devoted husband.
He departed this life on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital. He will be sorely missed, and his memory cherished forever.
Lonnell leaves to cherish in his memory three daughters, (step) Theresa Mayberry, Tanya Mayberry, Jacqueline Mayberry; two sisters Cheryl Smith and Lonnetta Mayberry-Byrd; five grandchildren: Tenisha Mayberry, Dominick Mayberry, Cameron Mayberry, Rodney Williams, and Jamaya Mayberry; two great grandchildren, Cortez Wasson, and Lyric Innis-Dixon; one great great grandchild Journi Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
