Loria Annette Fells, 63, passed away on January 6, 2025, in North Kansas City, MO. She was born May 9, 1961, in Kansas City, MO to Alvester Fells Sr. and Claudia McCullom Fells. Loria grew up in Kansas City, MO, and graduated from Central Senior High School, The Mighty Blue Eagles, Class of 1979.
After high school, she worked at Research Hospital for a few years as a dietary aide, her first job that she truly enjoyed. In 1982, she decided to move to Pomona, California to assist her aunt. She was excited about moving to California to live and began working and taking classes at North West Pomona College.
Loria later returned to Kansas City, MO where she continued working for various employers, including Sears, Hypermart, and the United States Postal Service, doing seasonal work for years. After leaving the post office, Loria began working for Costco from December 2010 until January 2025.
At an early age, Loria began attending the Church of Christ on 39th Street in Kansas City, MO, under the leadership of Brother Marion Holt.
Loria was an animal lover. Growing up, the house always had some type of pet cats, dogs, rabbits, pet mice, gerbils, hamsters, and turtles.
Loria's care for animals, especially her love for cats, was well known. She fed all the cats in her neighborhood and became involved with the KC Pet Project, which provided her with food for the neighborhood cats. She also donated and helped keep the cats fed.
Loria also enjoyed feeding and donating to the homeless in the community. She truly enjoyed helping people. She never did much for herself, as helping others is what truly brought her joy.
Loria had a beautiful spirit she was loving, kind, and very funny. She had a quick wit and never held her tongue. Loria loved her family deeply, and they meant everything to her.
Loria had one son, TreVon (Tre), whom she loved with all her heart and soul. She was blessed with her first grandson, Ma-Kai (Kai), whom she lovingly nicknamed Baby Yoda.
Loria enjoyed listening to music and loved watching her favorite TV shows, especially Star Trek, Star Wars, and The Twilight Zone.
Loria loved her Kansas City Chiefs, especially Kelce & Mahomes. She also loved going out to eat and visiting her favorite thrift stores, always finding great deals.
Loria was preceded in death by her parents, Alvester Fells Sr. and Claudia Fells, her siblings Alvester Fells Jr. and Diana Kay Fells Morris, and her paternal and maternal grandparents, Arthur and Blanche Fells, John and Pauline McCullom.
Loria will be truly missed. She leaves to cherish her memories her only child, Alvester TreVon Fells of North Kansas City, MO, her only grandson, Ma-Kai Alvester Fells (My-Kala Watson) of North Kansas City, MO, her sister, Paulette Fells Bruce (Andre) of Lee's Summit, MO, three nephews: Andre Bruce Jr. of Kansas City, MO, Corey Bruce of Kansas City, MO, and Shaun Bruce of Lee's Summit, MO, three nieces: Nikayla Morris of Kansas City, MO, Chandra and Colby Fells of Raytown, MO, one great-niece, Jasiah Williams of Columbia, MO, and one great nephew, Isaac Williams of Blue Springs, MO, special uncle Roger Fells of Kansas City, MO, special cousin Artis Poole of Kansas City, MO, uncle George McCullum (Ruby), of Raymore, MO, special aunt, Sandra McCullom of Brookhaven, Mississippi and special friend, Melissa Ezenwa of Kansas City, MO, and a host of loving cousins, other relatives, and friends, and her beloved cats, Thomas and Titten.
