Lula Mae Gratten

Lula Mae Gratten was born on September 4, 1941, in Tamms, Illinois to Nathaniel Roston and Maggie Roston. She was the third child in this union.

Lula Mae married Charles Gratten Jr. In 1974 and to this union one child was born, Charles Gratten III. Lula Mae had seven other children from her previous marriage.

Lula Mae was a faithful member of El Shaddi International Ministries. She raised all of her children in the church. She retired from KU Medical Center after 40 years of service as a CNA.

Lula Mae is proceeded in death by both parents, her husband Charles Gratten Jr., three sons, Darryl Porter, Todd Porter, and Charles Gratten III; four grandsons, William Porter, Darryl Porter Jr., Marcus Champion, and Michael Porter; one great grandson Devin Durham; two sisters, Venetta Morgan, and Cathern Baylark; one brother, Nathaniel Roston Jr.

Lula Mae was educated in the Poplar Bluff, Missouri schools. She had a very kind heart and treated everyone like she wanted to be treated.

The book of life closed for Lula Mae on May 27, 2026. Her memories will forever be cherished by her sister, Vera Mae Wright; her sons, Stanley Porter, Calvin Porter Jr., and Michael Porter; her daughters Carolyn Holland, and Anjanette Tabron. Lula Mae also leaves 22 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
