Mr. Major Ray Love, passed away on March 27, 2024, in Ringgold, Louisiana at the age of 76 years old. Major was born on February 22, 1948, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Amos Rambo and Lula Weathers.
Major lived in Ringgold, Louisiana until he moved to Kansas City, MO with his mother and two siblings in 1958. He attended Central High School until he joined the United States Armed Forces in 1967 where he served for two years. During his time of military service, Major received several medals and honors: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 DVC, Air Medal 2 Oversea BARS, Army Commendation Medal 1Combat G (Machine Gun) and Army Commendation Medal with Valor DVC Marksman (Rifle). After his tour of duty, he returned to Kansas City and was employed with J E Dunn Construction Company until he retired.
Major enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing dominoes and watching sports. He also enjoyed dancing and was a pretty good dancer. He met and married Rosetta Boyd and had a family. He cherished his daughters Tereye and Ebonie.
Major was a member of Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO under the leadership of Rev. Julius Rambo until he returned to Ringgold. There he joined Springhill CME Church where he was a member until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Sy'nee, younger brother Barnell, a younger sister Sharon and great-niece Ennacent.
He is survived by his daughters Tereye Taylor and Ebonie Love. Granddaughters Yasmin Ratliff and Sy'Mia Burrell. Sisters Rita Simmons, Barbara Weathers, Theresa Wyatt (Alonzo Jr). Nieces Lakesha Weathers, Sharonda Weathers, Cierra Johnson, Alesea Wyatt, Autumn Wyatt all of Kansas City, MO and LaShayla Wilson (Rico), Chattanooga, TN. Nephew Alonzo Wyatt III, Dallas TX and a host of other relatives and friends.
