MaKayla Sierra Nyree Ferguson, age 23, of Grandview Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, surrounded by family. Born on Saturday, April 14, 2001, in Kansas City, MO, MaKayla was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and granddaughter. Despite facing challenges due to many disabilities. She lived a life full of grace, love, and determination. MaKayla touched the lives of everyone she met with her infectious smile, joyful spirit, kind heart, and feisty attitude. Her unwavering strength was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a determined individual with a deep love for music, bright lights, balloons, movies, and stuffed animals. MaKayla found joy in simple pleasures, like watching people dance and being surrounded by those she loved. She liked laughing at her siblings when they got in trouble, she loved laughing at their pain. She took great pride in being the sole member of ‘Club Kayla’ every night, where she could express her happiness and celebrate life in her own special way. MaKayla’s presence was a gift to all, and she will be deeply missed. MaKayla was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her. She had a special bond with her family and accomplished many things throughout her life. She was christened at birth, marking the beginning of the graceful 23 & ½ years of life filled with love, purity, and faith. She was baptized on Saturday July 27, 2013, at Concord Fortress of Hope Church alongside her siblings. MaKayla also proudly graduated from Ruskin Senior High School in May of 2019. Her courage was an inspiration to everyone around her. MaKayla’s resilience and determination, paired with her loving heart, left an unforgettable mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. MaKayla is survived by her parents - Mordant and Kimberly Ferguson, her sisters - Kassandra Taylor, Chelsea Jackson, and Jordae’ Ferguson, her brothers MarQuise’ Ferguson, and Donovan Lewis, her nieces - Malani, Kiersyn, NaSari, and Jahene, her nephews Legend, JaSeir, and Mierro, her maternal grandmother Virgella Walker, her maternal grandfather Jerome Wakili, her Godmother Fatina Ross, her paternal grandmother Denise Geddes, her paternal grandfather Joseph Geddes, her maternal uncle Nathaniel Walker and Mansa Wakili, her paternal uncles Joseph, Bryan, & Kofi Geddes. She was proceeded in death by her paternal grandparents Josephine & Herbert Ferguson, and maternal great-grandparents Emmett & Julia Walker. She will forever be remembered for her warmth, her smile, and her ability to make every moment special for those around her. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered always.
