Margaret was born on June 23, 1959 in Kinston, North Carolina to Clarence Paul Hickman, Jr. and Margaretta Mumford Hickman. She was the first-born daughter of 4. Margaret attended Tarawa Terrace Elementary School in Camp LeJeune, prior to the family relocating to San Diego. She went on to attend Noah Webster Elementary, Theodore Roosevelt Jr. High and Patrick Henry High School. After high school she became a licensed Cosmetologist, of Bay Vista School of Beauty. She later attended the University of Phoenix where she proudly earned her Associates Degree in Business Management. Margaret knowingly received Christ Jesus, as her personal Lord and Saviour in her young adult life. She was a faithful member of Christians United in the Word of God under the leadership of Bishop Adlai E. Mack, until 1994. Margaret was always smart in school, strong-minded and super athletic. She was superior in track & field, often receiving ribbons and awards for her record-breaking winnings! She loved relay racing up and down “Elm Street” and even ran daily to the rifle shooting range with her dad, sisters, and neighborhood friends. She was also a superstar in the game of tetherball. Margaret was a protector of her 3 younger sisters often challenged by her foes, she stood for years flat-footed & still undefeated. Margaret enjoyed going out dancing to R&B soulful music, she really enjoyed line-dancing and stepping. She loved dressing with “fine rags, tuff shoes, classy handbags and gold jewels” and she was always posing for the perfect picture! She was raised to be socially kind and gracious to all, always the life of any party! Her smile was contagious, lighting up the room she entered saying “Hey Girl What’s Happening”. Margaret, fell in love with Eddie Seaverson, they married July 1984 and to their union 2 beautiful daughters, Shovaughna and Aronka were born. After their separation she met Fred Wooten to whom a loving son, William Hickman Wooten was born. While living in San Diego she worked for The United States Postal Services, The San Diego Transit Bus Company, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. She was also a loyal member of Lakiba N. Palmer American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 310. In 1994 Margaret with her 3 children relocated to Grandview, Missouri where she lived with her uncle and aunt Nathanial and Katie Bly who assisted and cared for them at their very own up until this day. She continued her work for EITAS a local bus company living in Grandview. Margaret continued her walk with The Lord, as a faithful member and culinary team worker of Second Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership by Pastor Donald D. Ford (deceased), also with Bishop John Lewis, Jr. now presiding. She later purchased a lovely home where she lived until her untimely illness unto passing in the Spring of 2022, she was surrounded by her loving family! Margaret was preceded in death by her Grandmother Flossie Mumford-Hargett Uzzell, her first cousin Schuval Candelario, and Aunts Ella Nobles, Patricia Cheatham, Uncles Charles R. Hargett, Nathaniel Bly, and Gary Nobles.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her Parents Clarence Paul Hickman, Jr., and Margaretta Mumford Hickman, Her Daughters Shovaughna Bowie (Andre) Grandview MO., Aronka Robertson (Aaron) Killeen, TX., and Son, William Wooten, Grandview, MO. Bonus-daughters Coretta Williams (David) of San Diego, CA, and Nevaeh Martinez of Las Vegas, NV., Her Sisters, Sandra Ross (John), Paula Womack, and Soretta Allen, Brother-in-laws Walter J. Womack, III and McDuffrie Allen of San Diego, CA., God-sisters Tia Ford-Howard andToni Russell of San Diego, CA., Her 5 Grandchildren, Myjah, Romello, and Di‘are Bowie, Aaron Jr., and Adonijah Robertson. Also, her lifetime friend Stephanie Ri’card and special friend Carl Clincy. Her Great Aunt Mrs. Rosa Bryant Spicer of Kinston, NC., Clara Smith of Mobile, AL., Aunts, Katie Candelario-Bly of Grandview, MO., Mary Nobles Jackson (Marvin) of Richmond, VA., and Ann McCollough. Uncles, Robert Mumford (Denise), Wilbert Nobles (Iona), Al Nobles (Alice) of New Jersey and James Nobles (Cynthia) of Pennsylvania, and a Host of Beloved Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins along with Great Nieces, and Nephews. Margaret was also greatly loved by additional relatives, caring neighbor's, and long-time friends!
