Mark Anthony Burns was born April 4, 1966, in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Esther L. Burns and Verne G. Burns Sr. Mark departed this life on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the age of 60.
Mark lived in Cincinnati, Ohio for a few years before returning to Springfield, Missouri, and finally returning to Kansas City, where he spent the final years of his life.
Mark was the youngest of twelve siblings. He loved spending time with his brothers and sisters, and was a loving father, brother, and friend.
Mark attended Milton Moore Elementary School and Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He joined Morning Star Baptist Church.
Mark worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, Brands Mart, and Piermont Cabinets, from which her retired after being hurt on the job. He was an all-around handyman who was always ready to help family and friends.
Mark was proceeded in death by both partners and two brothers, George E. Burns and Malachi E. Smith.
Mark leaves to mourn his passing three children, Crystal Burns and Mark Burns, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mark Burns Jr. of Arizona; two sisters, Annie Mitchem of Grandview, Missouri and Verna Davis (Mahlon) of Kansas City, Missouri; seven brothers, Jeremiah Burns (Sheila) of Dumphries, Virginia, Jesse Burns of Okinawa, Japan, Clifford Jones (Vicki) of Kansas City, Missouri, Ray Burns and Roy burns of Springfield, Missouri, Vernando Burns (Vickie) and Vernie Burns Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri; one aunt, Agnes M. Brown of Overland Park, Kansas, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
