Marquetta Renee Smith was born on February 23, 1967, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City Kansas to Beverly Jean and Samuel Smith. She was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She graduated from Paseo High School in 1985. Soon after graduation, she met and married Carl Smith. The couple gave birth to 3 beautiful daughters: Marquisha, Marchelle, and Maria.

She was a member of New Testament Pentecostal Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Prince King until his passing and continued to attend under the new leadership of Bishops Cleven and Sherry Washington.

Marquetta, also known as Quettabug, worked as a clerk for 35 years at The United States Postal Service, where she establishes her postal family, that continued after retirement in 2021. After retiring, she dedicated her time to her children, grandchildren, special friend (Eric Burbridge), and her father. She also loved playing spades and words with friends, Monopoly, Dominos and doing Karaoke and many more things.

Marquetta was called home on August 2, 2024. She was proceeded in death by her younger brother, Samuel Ray Smith (Junebug), her mother: Beverly Jean Smith, and her late husband: Carl Smith and her Best Friend Sharon Moore (Ward) and maternal and paternal grandparents. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters: Marquisha, Marchelle, and Maria; four granddaughters Don ‘Marie, Trinity, Carley, and Serenity; two sisters: Dr. Thailisha Smith and Janice Ellis; and Nieces and Nephew (December, Samual, Javion, Dionysis, Imania, Edwin, SJ, Summer, Jai’laye and host of close family and friends.
