Listen to Obituary

Marquis Clark was born on September 23, 1983 to Larry and Darlene Clay in Washington, MO, who later migrated to Kansas City, MO.

Marquis received his education in the Kansas City Missouri public school system where he participated in Basketball and was a stellar Track athlete. He graduated from Ruskin High School in Kansas City, MO. Marquis worked in several professions as a cook, a maintenance man; a forklift driver for several years.

Marquis united in Holy Matrimony to Keya L. Gilbert on March 9, 2012 in Independence, MO.

Marquis was a proud and loving father of three children: Marquis Clark, Makayla Clark; Cyncere Clark. Two step daughters: Kimani Pennington and Rahn’ae Rue. Three sisters: Eleasha Clark, Tena Lickteig, and Janelle Burris all of Kansas City, MO; one brother: Curtis Clark of Union, MO. A brother in law: Keith Burris, a brother in love: Charles Hardiman; two nephews: Kevon and Andre; three nieces: Tanika, Micah, Jalyn; a host of other relatives and friends. His grandfather Vernon Barnes precedes him in death.

Marquis was a people person and had a huge heart. He loved being around his family and friends in his spare time. Playing cards, shooting pool, having cookouts or simply just being in the presence of family and friends was satisfaction for him. If you had the pleasure of Marquis labeling you as his family, friend or extended family then you experienced a loyalty like none other. Did I mention some good eating, because he could definitely handle his way around the kitchen; man the grill. He cared deeply for the ones he loved and would do anything for those he could. He didn’t like to tell people no, and he would defend you with his life. Marquis was not a perfect man, but he was a trying man. Always trying to be good or the best at whatever he was engaged in. Trying to be a better Man, father, friend, supporter; much more. Marquis will be deeply missed.
