Martha Marie Isaiah Davis was born March 14, 1929 in Kansas City. MO. She was the youngest of four children born to the union of Harry Isaiah and Fannie Carney.

She graduated from Lincoln High School in Kansas City, MO in 1948. She received her certificate of education from Santa Monica Community College in Santa Monica, CA. She worked as a teacher’s aide in the Los Angeles school district and in the Kansas City school district. She was a private caretaker for Mrs. Helen Boylan until her death in 1992 and that’s when she retired.

As a child she attended Willis Chapel AME in Kansas City, MO. She accepted Christ at Friendly Will Baptist Church in Los Angeles, CA. When she returned back to Kansas City she became a member of Step Out On Faith she later joined St. Thomas Nondenominational Church under the pastorship of the late Bishop W. Thompson and Pastor Anne Thompson. She was a member there for over 30 years.

She was truly a beacon of light. She loved to bake, crochet, doing word search puzzles, taking road trips and spending time with her family. If you needed an early wake-up call she had no problem calling you at 4:00 in the morning, giving you the weather report and reminding you to take your medicine. She never met a stranger, she was affectionally known as grandma, Aunt Martha or Cousin Martha, she will truly be missed.
