Marvell Brown was born on August 13, 1949 in Muskogee, Oklahoma he was raised by his mother Irene Grant and father Raymond Mackey, Sr. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Mackey, Sr. Marvell attended Yeager Elementary School and Lincoln High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He worked as a Warehouse Supervisor for many years. Marvell gave his life to the Lord at an early age. He was a devoted member of This Rock Christian Tabernacle for 24 years. He loved his church and served faithfully on the Senior Usher Board and sang in the church men chorus "Creation" until his health began to fail. While singing with "Creation" they opened up at a concert for the "Mighty Clouds of Joy" national recording artists. Marvell loved people and had a heart for children or anyone in need. He was a giving person and always willing to help in the building of God's Kingdom. No matter what was going on, through sickness and pain Marvell's words were "I Count It All Joy" and "Thank You Jesus!". He also often said "Use me Lord, this is not about me, use me so others can see Jesus in me and give their lives to you!". Family was important to Marvell and he loved his entire family including his dogs. He enjoyed playing pool, dominoes, watching sports and loved to laugh! Most of all he Loved the Lord! When he was just a little boy in Muskogee Oklahoma on Sundays after church his mom would often find him in the out house preaching up a storm. He grew up to be a wonderful and faithful man of God!
