Marvin Lewis Hill, Sr.

The Lord welcomed his faithful servant home on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Marvin Lewis (ML ----- Mel) 65, was born to the union of Andrew W. Hill, Sr and Armentha (Lewis) Hill on October 31, 1952. Both parents and a brother (Andrei L. Hill) preceded him in death.

He was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District, after which he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps, he was honorably discharged in 1970.

ML was a jack-of-all trades, but he was a master-chef auto mechanic, his joy was cooking and entertaining family and friends. He considered his bar-b-q sauce as being the best of the best.

Mel had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. He gave his life to God at an early age. Marvin was a dedicated servant of God, but his greatest achievement was being ordained as a deacon in 2010.

He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Marvin leaves to cherish his memory 5 sons, Corey and Terry Clay, of Topeka, Ks; Marvin Lewis, Jr. and Tevin Hill, of Sallis, Mississippi; Chris (Mel-Mel) Reeves, of Kansas City, MO; and 2 daughters, Brenique and Breanne Hill, of Kansas City, KS; 3 brothers, Andrew W. Hill, Jr. of Kansas City, MO, Victor Hill, of Las Vegas and Charles (Chucky) Bryant, of Kansas City, MO; 3 sisters, Patricia (Douglas) Bates, of Overland Park, KS, Barbara Walker, of Lee’s Summit, MO, Sherryl (Robert) Lee, of Kansas City, KS, and Regina Hill, of Kansas City, MO; 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends, many of which he helped to raise.
