Mary Ann Brown - Jones 66, transitioned to be with the Lord on March 10, 2024. She was the one of eleven children that was born to Ms. Lena Brown in Kansas City Missouri on October 13, 1957.
Mary accepted Christ at an early age while becoming a member of St Stephens Missionary Baptist Church. She was a God-fearing woman that loved to talk about her Lord anytime and anywhere. She mentored so many people through her years just by praying for them or sending a daily scripture. Her character exemplified being the type of woman that put everyone else first no matter what she was going through. The encouragement to others when they were going through tough times even though she was going through them herself. Mary allowed The Lord to use her as a vessel through which she ministered.
While growing up in Kansas City she attended Booker T Washington Elementary school and graduated from Lincoln Prep High School. She attended Miller Institute of Technology in Phoenix, Az., completing her computer programming training in 1984. She worked in the food service industry for several restaurants in the Downtown Kansas City area. Mary found her niche in retail sales with two tours at J C Penney in both the Kansas City and Phoenix markets. She also spent time as a claims processor with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas City. She then went back to JCPenney until she medically retired in 2020 after being employed by them for 20 plus years.
Mary was apart of the Alpha Epsilon Zeta Amica where she enjoyed meeting new people and attending conferences. She was youth director at St Mark where she would challenge the youth and encourage them to succeed. She was also a teacher for middle and high school vacation bible school where the young adults loved being in her class. Mary had a way of making you think outside the box without you even knowing it. She was the trip coordinator for St Mark where she loved planning educational but fun trips for young to old.
Mary loved being a mother and especially loved being a grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, arts and crafts and relaxing with her family.
She is preceded in death by her mother Lena Brown, her sisters Janae Mae Chisholm, and Lena Bomar, and her brother Chuck brown.
She leaves to cherish behind beautiful memories; her husband Rev. David Jones, son Michael Brown (Marisha), stepson David ‘Ramon’ Jones, daughter Kahlena Jones, 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Sherrill (Cardell) Williamson, Gladys Brown, 4 Brothers Nathaniel Brown, Patrick (Troi) Brown, Fredrick Brown, Willie ‘Pops’ (Audrey) Brown, and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, family and friends.
