On Tuesday October 3, 2023, Mary Joe Jones departed this life to go home to be with the Lord.
She was born on July 4th, 1961, in Kansas City Mo., the youngest of six children born to the union of Reverend Robert Lee Jones and Anna Jones.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. Mary graduated from Westport High School in 1979. Mary later went on to attend Culinary of Arts School, and used her experience to land a job in the dietary department at Menorah Medical Center where she worked a number of years. She also worked as a day care teacher at St. James Church for a several of years. Mary then became a House Manager for the Center for Developmentally Disabled, where she finished the rest of her working years.
Mary moved to Topeka, Kansas to help care for her sister (Charlyene) before her passing. While she was in Topeka, Mary fell in love with her new church family (Shekinah Glory Worship Center), where she received certificates of completion for Biblical Studies which brought her even closer to the Lord. Due to her declining health Mary moved back to Kansas City, MO. to be close to family.
Outside of going to church, she loved to travel, movies, and spending time with family and friends. And, most of all, Mary loved everybody celebrating her July 4th birthday with her.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Reverend Robert Lee Jones, and Anna Jones; her sister, Charlyene Allen; her brother, Pastor Dwayene Jones; lifelong friend, Craig Gray; and best friend LaFern Washington.
