Mattie Lee Davis was born to this union of Donzell and Villie Mae Jacobs on March 9, 1936 in Minden, Louisiana. Mattie Lee Davis departed at this life on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Saint Joseph Medical Center. She was the fifth of eight children. Both parents, three sisters: Allie Benton, Alice Manning, and Barbara Walker; one brother: Luther Jacobs; three of her children Jeffrey, Rodrick, Leslie; and one grandson: Jamaal preceded her in death.

She was united and holy matrimony to James R Davis for over 40 years, who also preceded her in death.

Mattie professed her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age. In 2018 she joined Mt. Horeb Baptist Ministries where she loved to attend when her health permitted.

She attended public school Haughton, Louisiana and moved to Kansas City, Missouri in the early 1960’s at which time she had several jobs until 1972. She then went back to school part time to receive her certification to become a licensed Day Care provider for the State of Missouri. Mattie love children and enjoy caring for them; she operated her daycare for over 30 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughters: Vanetta Robinson, and Jamesetta (James) Smith; two step-daughters: Gwendolyn Blewitt all with Kansas City, Missouri, and Genevive Parker of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandsons: Randy, James (Patrice), Rodrick, and Carlito; one granddaughter: Shynise (Charles) and five great grandchildren all of Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters: Alean McInnis of Lucerna, California Gloria Dean Cox of Oakland, California, and Cloria Watts of Jacksonville, Florida, along with a host of nieces nephews and relatives.
