Mattie E. Holloway, 92 departed her life on February 5,2021 at KC Hospice House. She was born on, May17,1928, to John Burton and Josie Terry Burton in College Mound, MO.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, father, John Burton; mother, Josie Terry Alderson; stepfather, Frank Alderson; husband, Joe Holloway; longtime partner, Wilmus Williams; ex-husband, John Williams; three daughters, Wilma Sue, Shirley Ann Williams, and Teresa Jo
Williams; one son, Richard Williams; two sons-in-law, Nathaniel Rogers, and Marvin Whitfield; two granddaughters, Natalie Williams, and Gayla Burton; one grandson, Marcade Whitfield; one great granddaughter, Precious Williams; one great-great granddaughter, NyLiyah Grant; three sisters, Bonnie Robinson, Frances Carter, and Barbara Banks; two brothers, Billie Alderson, and Larry Alderson; one special aunt, Ida Sims; best friend, Pearlie Bedford; and all of her aunts, uncles, four nieces, and four nephews.
Mattie Holloway was affectionately known as, Momma, Me-Maw, Grandma, Big Grandma, Grams, Auntie and Ms. Williams to her family and friends. She graduated in Moberly MO. She worked at University Hospital for many years before moving to Kansas City MO. She transferred to UMKC School of Dentistry until she retired. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Second Baptist Church in Moberly MO. Upon moving to Kansas City MO, she united with the Hands of Christ Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of, Pastor Toy and Pearlie Bedford.
Mattie enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo, and listening to music. She loved watching her wrestling, Lifetime stories, and also loved traveling when she could, spending time with her family and friends.
Mattie leaves to cherish her memories: five daughters, Tila Boose, Molly Rogers, Ida McNeal, Dorothy Williams, and Virginia Whitfield; two daughter in laws, Yvonne Williams, and Jana Williams, seven sons, Jerry Harvey, Kenny Williams, John Williams (Geneva), Wayne Williams, Lee Williams (Carla), Robert Williams and Randolph Williams; four sisters, Judy Poindexter, Connie (Arthur) Gross, Pat Logan, and Carol Ratson; four brothers, Harold Alderson, Carson Alderson (Nancy), Ira Alderson (Beth), and Gary Alderson; 42 grandchildren; 97 great grandchildren; and 42 great-great grandchildren; one special granddaughter: Wilma Wells (Walter); one special grandson, Stephen Williams (Jane) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
