Being raised in Kansas City, KS, she attended Kansas City, Kansas public schools and went to Sumner High School. She earned a Certified Nursing Assistant certificate at Kansas City Area Vocational Technical School. She also studied Licensed Practical Nursing. Mayola worked for various hospitals, nursing homes, and home health agencies. She had a real love for taking care of everyone. She dedicated her life to Christ as a young girl and rededicated her life to Him as an adult.
As a member of Guiding Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor David Lee, who she honored with love and respect, she served on the church Mother Board and happily participated in missionary work as best she could until her mobility started to fail her. Yet, she believed in Christ Jesus and would challenge others to trust in the Lord Jesus too. She would say, "...all you have to do is, let go and let God." or she would provide a scripture pertaining to your conversation/ situation you may be discussing with her at the time. Mayola’s thoughtfulness and secret caregiving for others blessed a multitude and will forever be remembered. Whether it was her time, finances, a shoulder, or a listening ear she would graciously do her best to help. Her shared wisdom has been embedded in many souls. This high spirited woman through her own experiences has turned so many impossibilities to possibilities and hopeless to hopeful. She was very much loved and appreciated by so many. She leaves her legacy to cherish her memories; Husband: Vandell Racy Sr., KCMO; five children: Van Racy (step son) (Stephanie) of N KCMO, Lyndia Gatlin (Joseph) of Raymore MO, Vandell Racy Jr. (Joan) of San Antonio, TX, Kevin Racy of Phoenix, AZ, Corean Racy-McClinton (Dan) of KCMO: eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; and a huge host of amazing relatives and friends.
