Melquan Tyreik West-Yancey

Melquan T. West-Yancey, 25, departed this life on July 20, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was born on July 14, 1999, in Kansas City, Missouri to James Smith and LaKisha Smith.

He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated grom Ruskin High School.  After high school he attended UAPB; HBCU in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Melquan was involved in band, tennis, ROTC, and trading.

He began working for Titan Protection as a supervisor.

He was the only son we had, and he was an amazing son, brother, and a friend to all that was around him.  He was a leader.  He had no fear and he believe in Jesus Christ.

Melquan is preceded in death by his grandparents, Josephine & Robert Williams, Sallie Smith; his aunt, Pearless; his cousins, Quante’, Ronte’, Cortez, Jessie, and a host of aunts and uncles.

He leaves to cherish his memories his parents, James & Lakisha Smith; Melvin West; a wonderful grandfather, W. C. Smith, Sr; his amazing sisters, Quymescia Yancey, Jamie Smith, Alexandra Smith; an amazing aunt, Cherell Yancey, that he would help her with anything; Grandma Pamelita Monroe; Chantez, Cashenia, Christine, Ramel, Tayshon, and Meleah; his wonderful uncles, Lennes, Calvin, Timothy, Coroy, Stanley, W.C., Michael; his amazing aunts, Cherell, Polly, Iris, Gwen, Barbara, and Brenda; his favorite cousin, Zabrina, and a host of other relatives and friends.
