Frank G. Taylor, Sr. and his wife Marie Merritt Taylor, gave birth to their fourth son Melvin Osborne Taylor on July 24, 1948, in Kansas City, MO. He passed on to his Heavenly Father on March 3, 2017. Melvin attended D.A. Holmes Elementary School and graduated from Central High School. He joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the San Francisco, CA bay area on Treasure Island. While in the Navy he studied at the Naval Command School and was an electronic technician. After serving his country overseas, Melvin returned to Treasure Island where he served out the remainder of his military duty until receiving a general discharge from the Navy in 1970. During his service at Treasure Island, Melvin met and married Cheryl Hall. The two had a son, Mark Anthony Taylor and five years later a daughter, Myria Margaret Taylor. Melvin attended Laney College in Oakland, CA and worked for two prestigious computer and software companies, Honeywell and Ratheon. Melvin loved the game and was very good at playing chess. He also enjoyed fishing with friends. Waiting to welcome him in Glory are his father, Frank G. Taylor, Sr., mother Marie Merritt Taylor, and his stepmother Ardella Fagan Taylor. Also waiting are his brothers Frank G. "Little Frankie" Taylor, Jr., Wilbert Taylor, Nathaniel Taylor and Arthur Fagan, as well as many other relatives and friends. Left to honor his memory are his son Mark Anthony Taylor, his daughter Myria Margaret Taylor, a granddaughter Marley B. Russ, as well as many cousins and friends.
