Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of one of His faithful servants… Psalms 116:15
Melvin Edward Williams, Jr., entered this world on July 29, 1997, to the delight of his parents, Annita D. Douglas and Melvin Edward Williams, Sr. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the place he affectionately called “Home”, and no matter where his life adventures, family, ministry, educational or career opportunities would take him, he remained true to his KC roots, and his home team the Kansas City Chiefs.
Melvin's academic journey began at St. Monica private school, where he excelled in his early elementary education and later attended Hartman Elementary School. This strong educational foundation led to his acceptance into the prestigious Lincoln Academy and College Preparatory School in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2013, he relocated to Dallas with family and attended Life School Oak Cliff, High School. There, he participated on the football team as a defensive end and was inducted into the National Honor Society. Melvin was also involved in numerous other leadership programs, graduating from High School with honors in 2015. In the fall of 2015, he attended Sam Houston State University, in Huntsville TX, where he was immediately recognized as a leader on and off the campus. While at Sam Houston, Melvin was an active member of Chi Alpha Campus Ministries, he also participated in and lead various small groups, campus outreach, and various mission trips. He also led a small group in his junior year, providing mentorship and spiritual leadership to young male believers. Melvin was an E.L.I.T.E. Program participant, earning senior honor cords for his commitment and leadership, graduating from Sam Houston State University in 2019, with a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration. He was currently pursuing his Master's Degree at Prairie View A&M University.
Melvin Williams was also recognized as a dedicated community member in the greater Dallas and Houston area, and in the greater Kansas City area, known for his kindness, generosity and service to others. His commitment to service was evident in his involvement in various community projects through his school and church. His volunteer work included working with the Houston Food Bank, contributing his time and effort to serve the community. He also assisted in the success of a local Houston school by praying for students in the hallways and helping to set up school events. Melvin was also awarded the “W. D. Barrett Scholarship Award” in 2016, presented to sons and daughters of the employees of Polytainers Inc., who have shown exceptional achievement in educational and community service opportunities in Kansas City, Mo and beyond. Melvin recently received the prestigious “Kansas City Proclamation of Honor” from Mayor Quinton Lucas of KCMO for his lifetime of achievements and service to others.
Melvin’s commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ began at an early age, where his parents and grandparents begin to recognize the anointing that was on his life. Having two praying minister grandmothers was a bonus for Melvin in his Spiritual Life. He was baptized at the age of eight under the leadership of Pastor Gary Hopkins at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, in KCMO. Melvin was also an honorary member of the Victory Temple Christian Life Center, under the leadership of Bishop Keith and LaTonya Tribitt, and an Honorary member of The City KC Church, under the leadership of Pastor Armour and Jessica Stephenson, and enjoyed the fellowship whenever he was at home in Kansas City. After moving to Dallas, he became an active member of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, under the leadership of Pastor Tony Evans, along with his family. His most recent church home was Blueprint Church in Houston TX., under the leadership of Matthew and Falyn Davis, where he actively participated in BlueChat, Men's Roundtable, and Sports Centered Groups. Melvin was a previous participant in the “Cry Out Conferences”, a faith-based gathering focused on spiritual and community growth and development. He also attended and participated in the “He Say, She Say, Faith-Based Workshops, further developing his understanding and commitment to his faith. Melvin was an employee of Landmark Health Care Systems and Dallas College.
