Michael R. Carter

Michael Ray Carter, 63, was born on April 19, 1960 to Hassie Carter and Helen Jean Jackson in Kansas City, MO.  He began his education in Kansas City, MO and later moved to Lone Jack, MO where he continued his education and graduated from Lee’s Summit High School.

It was in Lee’s Summit where Mike found his love for the simpler life of the country.  He was a member of 4-H, caring for and showing award-winning Steers.  He worked on Lone Summit Ranch with his stepdad, Melvin Gaines Sr. It was here, with the guidance of his stepdad, at Lone Summit Ranch, where he learned farming and construction at an early age.

After high school, he continued to use these skills as a contractor in Kansas City, Mo.  Mike lived life to the fullest and will be truly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by both parents, his brother Dennis Keith Carter, son Michael Ray Carter Jr., grandson, DaSean Colbert. Michael is survived by his children, Alicia Newton (Ricky) of Denver, CO, David Chronister (Kristhy) of Monument, CO. Shieeta Henderson (Demetrius) of Guthrie, OK, Ammris Echols, Ameer McDowell (Shenice), Destiny Carter, and Noah Carter all of Kansas City, MO and Mikayla Carter of Lee’s Summit, MO.  He also leaves his sister Donna Renea Smith (Dale) of Burnsville, MN and his brothers Larry Donnell Carter of Phoenix, AZ and Melvin Gaines Jr (Christina) of Strongsville, OH.

Mike also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
