Michael Dwayne Long, (Mike) was born August 24, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Earlie V. Long and Bobbie Jean Long. He was preceded in death by both parents. Michael entered into Eternal Rest on May 4, 2021.
Mike united in marriage to Betty Robinson and to this union two sons were born, Marcus Dwayne and Derrick Michael Long. He later married Tracy Wooten and to this union one son was born, Michael Dwayne Long II.
Mike was educated in the Kansas City, Mo School District. He graduated from East High School, class of 1976. He studied welding at a technical school in Kansas City, receiving a certification in welding.
Mike worked at Butler Manufacturing as a welder for over 25 years until his health declined, later retiring.
Mike gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church (KCMO) on June 2, 1996 under the Leadership of Rev. J. J. Woods, Sr. He also attended Sheffield Family Life Center.
Mike was a kindhearted, soft spoken, God fearing man. He opened his home to anyone in need.
Mike loved his children and family.
One of his favorite things to do was to watch “The Bold and Beautiful” and discuss it with his aunt and sister who would call him to find out what was happening on the show. He also liked hanging out with his brother’s barbequing and watching football. GO CHIEFS!
Mike leaves to cherish his memories filled with a lot of love and laughter his children, Ebony Najerai, Marcus, Derrick and Michael. His stepchildren Breonna Schiele, Kailah Schiele, Gerra Schiele and Tradale Wooten. His sisters Martha Hoover, Winda Harden (Derrick), Leatha Cheffen, Angela Yates (Anthony), Latrina Lockett, Toi Williams (Reggie). His brothers Dennis Long, Tyrone Lockett, Kenneth Lockett, Craig Lockett, Christopher Lockett, Eric Lockett (Amy) and Antonio Lockett, special friend Betty Long, fifteen grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
