On January 14th, 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri, Michael Lamont Page was born to Tennell Roy and Saundra Kay Page both preceded him in death. At an early age, Jack Butler became an integral part of Michael’s life and served as a father figure. Michael matriculated through the Kansas City, Missouri School District and graduated from Westport High School in 1985. Michael was a member of the Varsity Baseball Team. Michael loved to travel and throughout his life, he was known to “Dress to Impress.” On September 17, 1998, Michael married the love of his life his wife of 29 years, Shawn D. Goff and to this union two sons were born. Michal enjoyed spending time with his four children, six grandchildren and his entire family, both near and far. Michael accepted Christ at an early age and serve as a dedicated member of Grant Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church of Kansas City, Kansas until his passing. He loved his church family and loved serving as a mentor to the young men and youth who loved him affectionately. Michael participated in the Sons of Success Male Mentoring Ministry and as an advisor to the Young People’s and Children’s Division. Michael regularly shared his life testimony with the church body and his dedication and faith in God led him to become a “Walking and Talking Miracle” to the members of Grant Chapel. Michael began his employment as a dietitian at Children’s Mercy Hospital and later joined the staff of the Kansas City Country Club before joining the United States Navy. In 1988, Michael joined the United States Navy and served honorably in the Peacetime and Gulf War as an E-4 EN3 First Class Petty Officer and became a Data Control Engineer on the USS Fox CG-33. Michael received honorable mentions and awards while serving in the U.S Navy to include the Southwest Asia Gold Medal. Upon his honorable discharge and returning to Kansas City, Michael began his career as a Correctional Officer at the Missouri Correctional Institute (Leeds) and later transferred to The Richard Bowling Federal Building. In January of 2003, God granted Michael a second chance in life when he became a recipient of a new lung; from henceforth, Michael began a new journey and became known as “Iron Man” by many of his family and friends. On October 6, 2015 Michael was honored as one of Kansas City’s Hometown heroes through the Honor Flight Network was flown to Washington D.C. for a full day of visiting military memorials and several other locations. Michael was one the first and youngest African American Gulf War Veterans to have the privilege of placing the reef on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, VA. On Friday morning, October 6th, 2017 at the Kansas City Veterans Hospital, Michael Lamont Page was called from labor to reward with his devoted family by his side. Michael peacefully transitioned home, his ship had sailed. Michael leaves a legacy of his love to cherish his memory, his loving wife Shawn D. Page; three sons Mychael , LaDarrian (Ashton) and Micco Page; one daughter Alyson Frazier; his furry best friend, Coco; two granddaughters, Anyla and Zoey Page; four grandsons Mykoel, Mykel and Mason Page and Graham Walters all of Kansas City; his loving grandmother Doretha Gibson; his loving father, Jack Butler; four Uncles Billie, Cordell, Randy and Gregory Gibson; a loving Aunt Rose Carter and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
