Mimi Lee Medlock, was born August 25, 1924, in Richville, OK to Allen Cross and Lucinda Dansby.
She was preceded in death by both parents, husband Roger Wendell Medlock, sister Castella Craddock, brother Elmer Allen Cross, sons Stanley Harrell, Roger Medlock, Gordon Medlock and 2 grandchildren Christopher Medlock and Karla Harrell Reed.
Mimi peacefully departed this life January 13, 2020 while in the care of care of Encompass Healthcare and Hospice.
Very early in life her mother Lucinda moved the family from Oklahoma to Parsons, Kansas where she received her education and accepted Christ at a very early age.
Her first born was a son, Stanley and later she married Roger Wendell Medlock, and to this union five children were born three sons, Roger, Gordon, Gar; two daughters, Beth Ann and Jacqueline.
Mimi and Roger “Jack” relocated to Kansas City, Mo. where she raised her family and worked as a cook. She worked for Western Missouri Mental Hospital where she retired. During her tenure with Western Missouri she was offered the opportunity to study for her certification to become a nutritionist. It became one of her proudest moments to be certified in the profession she so dearly loved. She became very knowledgeable in food preparation and healthy living encouraged a healthy lifestyle to her family and friends. After retiring from Western Missouri, she decided she wasn’t really ready to retire. She became a Senior Companion for the elderly and rode the bus to attend to many of her clients and was very passionate about her role as their companion and caregiver. She also worked as a Library Attendant the Lucile Blueford Kansas City Public Library.
Mimi became a proud member of Corinthian Missionary Baptist church where she rededicated her life to serving the Lord. She loved going to church more than anything, she loved her church family and was a faithful servant. She was a Godly woman, always smiling and ready to serve in any capacity. Over the years, She served as the Senior Adult Sunday School teacher, Director of Mission Ministry and president of the Mother Board.
Mimi enjoyed reading her bible, going to church, listening and singing gospel music and being in the company of her family and friends. She cherished her time spent at her home on her porch, waving and speaking to people walking by. She was friendly and kind and the most loving mom, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Even in her transition she displayed quiet grace as she peacefully slept into God’s presence.
She leaves to cherish her memories three children: Gary Medlock, Kansas City; Jacqueline (Jackie) Medlock, Kansas City; Beth Ann Hunter, Dallas, TX. Three Nieces, Phyllis Mattin, St. Louis, Mo.; Cindy Middlebrooks (Aaron), Kansas City; Martha Kay Craddock, Kansas City; Three nephews, Daniel Craddock, St. Paul, MN; Donnell Cannon, Milwaukee, WI; Sam Craddock, Kansas City; Eleven grandchildren; Twenty-four Great grandchildren; Fourteen Great-great grandchildren. She loved her family and will be deeply missed.
