Miriam D. Matthews

Miriam Matthews, age 59, departed this life on April 14, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born October 18, 1964 in Ramer, Tennessee, to J.W. Miller and Ella Hawthorne.

She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri where she attended Penn Valley Community College. She received a degree in Nursing. She began her career as a nurse for Ignite Medical Resorts where she worked for over 20 years. Myra enjoyed helping and caring for others. She married R.K. Matthews on October 14, 2006 in Kansas City, Missouri. They were happily married for 18 years.

She was preceded in death by (father) J.W. Miller and (son) Orneal Betts. She is survived by (mother) Ruth Hawthorne, (husband) R.K. Matthews, (sons) Dennis Miller Sr, Carnelious Betts, (brother) Dale Miller, (sister) Ivani Miller, (daughter) Tiffany Hawkins, (son) Maurice Hawkins, (daughter) Quintikel Ingram, (son) Marcus Sr, (daughter) Viola Williams, (son) Robert Matthews Jr, (son) Yacub Williams, (daughter) Zorria Matthews, (son) Zachary Matthews, (grandson) Dennis Miller Jr, and a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and family.
