Mitchell Lee Bryant, Sr. was born on August 2, 1941, to Elmer Bryant, Sr. and Velma Maxine Brooks in Kansas City, MO. He was the third oldest of six children.
Mitchell was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri Public School System where he attended Lincoln High School and Manuel High Vocational School. Mitchell was a star basketball player also known as Mitchell “Chinched” Bryant for making the most points in every game. He was also a proud member of the JROTC. Mitchell graduated in May of 1960.
Following his graduation, he served in the United States Army for 8 years and later joined the Missouri Army National Guard for twenty-one years. Mitchell retired after twenty-nine years of service to the Armed Services receiving honors as Sergent First Class (E7) Mitchell L. Bryant.
Mitchell was employed at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant retiring after thirty years.
Mitchell L. Bryant was united in marriage to Elmira Rainey on April 12, 1967.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his wife, Elmira Bryant, his parents Elmer and Velma Bryant, siblings: Rudolph M. Bryant, Sandra Boyd, Elmer Bryant, Jr., and Constance E. Bryant.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two children: Mitchell Bryant, Jr. and Michelle Sauls (Harold) of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren: Marquan Bryant and Taylor Michelle Sauls; his baby sister Joyce C. Wynne of Grand Prairie, TX; and two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Bryant and Naomi Bryant; his best friend Melvin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
