Monalisa Saffiyah Bruce departed her earthly life and transitioned to her heavenly home on August 2nd, 2021. She was born December 14th, 1990 in Kansas City, MO to Rod Walker and Regina Bruce.
Monalisa, affectionately called “Mona” or “Mo” grew up in a Christian home and received Jesus Christ into her heart. Her favorite scripture was II Timothy 1:7 ‘For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind’. She received her formal education from Raytown High School, where she excelled. Mona continued her studies receiving her Dental Assistant Degree from Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley with desires of someday becoming a dentist. Monalisa graduated at the top of her class and became one of the best dental assistants to date. Mona also enjoyed reading, bartending and all things beauty. This led her to both Cosmetology and Esthetician school. Mona didn’t stop there! One of her hobbies that monetized was bartending. Mona then earned her Mixologist certificate from the International School of Professional Bartending. Prior to the departure of life, Mona utilized her education and trainings by being employed with KC Daiquiri Shop, Mix-It Bartending, Swope Health-Dental and Samuel U. Rodgers-Health, just to name a few. She will be remembered as an overachiever in all that she dedicated herself to, as well as a beautiful, intelligent, sweet, bubbly and respectful young lady.
With the help of God, Mona dedicated her life, love and energy to her son. In 2014 she became a mother to a precious baby boy. She was a strong and intelligent person. Mona instilled that strength and intelligence in her only child, Amilio Carson.
Her legacy will carry on through the memories in our hearts. Mona touched so many people and will truly be missed. She is survived by her son, Amilio Carson; Mother Regina (Talib) Nuiman; Father Rod (Dorothy) Walker; three brothers, Eric (Zayra) Collins, Makarios Walker, Kareece Walker; one nephew, Russell Collins; one niece, Zoe Collins; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
