Monique, 54, passed away on April 4, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.
She was born on July 4, 1970, in Kansas City, MO, to Lawrence and Rosetta Harlin. She was the baby of ten. She lived in Kansas City for 50 years and then moved to Houston, TX.
She attended Graceland Elementary, Martin Luther King Middle School, and Van Horn High School in Kansas City, MO, where she received her high school diploma in 1988. After high school she worked in aviation for over 25 years.
Monique was the life of the party. She loved to sing, dance, and do karaoke. Some of her hobbies were decorating and DIY projects. She was an amazing cook. With glazed ham and peach cobbler being her signature.
On March 5, 1990, Monique married the love of her life, Morris Hensley, and was happily married for 35 years. Together the two had 2 beautiful daughters, Micaela and Mya.
She was preceded in death by Mother Rosetta Harlin, who she missed dearly; her baby girl, Mya; her brother, Carl Harlin; her sister, Eunice Mister; and a grandmother who she had a special bond with, Lizzie Mae Malone.
She is survived by her father, Lawrence Harlin. husband Morris Hensley. daughter Micaela (Greg) Harvey; three grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Morshun, Malia, and Mariah; three sisters: Angie Harlin, Phyllis (Charles) Strozier, and Linda (Alfred) Boyd; four brothers: Lawrence Blue, Edward Andrews, David Andrews, and Johnny Harlin; three nephews: Carl Harlin, David Andrews, and Charles Strozier; four nieces: Lenora Harlin, Latisha Harlin, Crystal Harlin, and a special niece, Laquita Fuhr; and a host of other relatives and friends.
