Mosetta M. Harris departed this life on December 3, 2016. She was born in Shaw, Mississippi on December 24, 1934 to the late Minnie Mae and Mose Madlock. At the age of 10, she accepted Christ and served in the Morning Star Baptist Church in Merigold, MS, under the leadership of Rev. Moore. Later, she left Shaw, MS and moved on to New Orleans, LA. She found a new church home at New Birth Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Welton Washington. She served at New Birth for 40 years. She held positions of Usher and Missionary. Afterr 40 years, Mosetta packed up and moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She continued to serve the Lord at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Earl Abel. In 2005, she came under the leadership of Rev. Leonard Butler. During her many years, she continued to serve her church in the capacity of an Usher and Missionary. Mosetta loved the Lord and this was evident through her testimony and steadfast faith. She would witness to anyone willing to listen. Mosetta married the late Robert Collins, Sr. in 1953 and to this union six children were born. In February 1996, she married the late James Harris. They had one child together. Mosetta was faithful and dedicated to her family. This was demonstrated by the love, patience, guidance and support she displayed to her loved ones. She leaves her fragrance of life to her children; Dreola Guyton (Tyrone) of Powder Springs, GA, Jinnel Thomas (late Ron T.) of Elk Grove, CA, Robert Collins, Jr. (Mayzelle) of Arlington, TN, Gloria Madlock of Kansas City, MO, Andrew Collins (Marcia) of Acworth, GA, Darlene C. Jones (Harvey) of Dallas, TX, and Dorothy Simpson (Sam) of Kansas City, MO, her special first cousin, who she passionately loved as her son, Tommie Rivers of Indianapolis, IN; her siblings James Madlock of Ruthville, MS, Roosevelt Madlock (Elenora) of Atlanta, GA, Mose Madlock, Jr. (Charlene) of Peoria, IL, George Madlock (Janie) of Indianapolis, IN, Tommie Lee Madlock (Beatrice) of Horn Lake, MS, and Gloria Tyler of Bowie, MD. Mosetta was very proud and fond of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a host of other relatives and dear friends. Mosetta had a special bond with her sister-in-law, Beatrice. Mosetta stated "there was nothing she wouldn't do for me." She wished to acknowledge her "Kansas City children"; and a special acknowledgement to Kim Hubbard-Stewart (Eddie), Shirley Campbell, and Sister B. Wills and her best friends; Mary Ross, Quintaella Randolph, and Kathy Phillips.
