Bro. Bosie Jacobs

Listen to Obituary

Bosie Jacobs, affectionately known as, "Red", age 96, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, where he resided for many decades.

Bosie was born on June 8, 1929, in Shongaloo, Louisiana, to Timothy "Bodden" Jacob and Hattie Lee (Edwards) Jacob. He was one of eleven children.

Bosie was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings: Nathanger Jacobs, Herman Jacobs, Leller Mae Stewart, Emma Ellis, Mattie Chappell, Lottie B. Miles, and Annalee Sanders. He is survived by three sisters: Hattie Jacobs Lee, Wilma Beason (Clark), and Georgia Tidwell.

Brother Bosie was a faithful servant of God and spent most of his life serving as a deacon at Paradise Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.

Before joining the Army, Bosie married Cora Lee Carter on May 4, 1949, in Sarepta, Louisiana, and shortly after, they relocated to Kansas City. Bosie & Cora Lee were happily married for 52 years. They were blessed with five children: Alvin Jacobs, Donald Jacobs, Evelyn Jacobs, Orlester Jacobs, and Bryan Jacobs. Although Cora Lee left us on September 14, 2000, her spirit and the love she shared continues to be present in our hearts and memories.

During his time in the military, Bosie achieved the rank of heavy weapons infantry leader. After serving in the Korean War and receiving an honorable discharge, Bosie worked at Cook Paint in Kansas City, until his retirement. Thereafter, he remained active by providing maintenance and landscaping services for various organizations in the metropolitan area. Outside of work, he enjoyed attending church, spending time "piddling" around in the backyard, watching Royals Baseball games, and catching up with his beloved sisters.

Left to cherish Bosie's memory: his son, Bryan Jacobs (Adrienne); several grandchildren: Alvin Jacobs II (son of Alvin), Orlester Jones, Tameka White, Alonzo Jacobs, and Cierra Jacobs (children of Orlester), as well as Bryan Dennie and Breanne Jacobs (children of Bryan); sisters-in-law: Carlyton Carter-Hoof, Evangelist Mamie Thomas, Mozell Jacobs, Alice Thomas; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
