Myrtle Hawkins, 78, was born on, January 23, 1943, in Highland, TX, to Robert Carter and Itha Mae Yates.
She graduated high school and later started her career search at various jobs. One of which she was proud of was being the manager at Church’s Chicken. She later started a career at Ford Motor Company where she retired after 26 years of service.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. She played the piano for many churches in Texas as well as in Kansas City, MO.
She is also proudly known as being the founder of the Golden Angels Community Choir and the Spiritual Knight-N-Gales, of which is most famous for. She wrote songs for many groups as well. Singing and composing was her greatest joy.
She departed this life on, October 24, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Sylvester Hawkins; brothers, Robert B. Carter, Willie B. Carter, Tommy Lee Carter, and L. C. Carter; and sisters, Clara Mae Harris, Vera Mae Beard, and Catherine Carter.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her special friend, Clifford Arbee; daughters, Carolyn Coleman, Tina Stone, Catherine Taylor, Sylvia McCain, and Shelia Hankins; sons, Kennie Norris, and Michael Baker; goddaughter, Linda Strather; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
She was loved by many.
