Nicholas “Nick” Montez Butler, 30, passed away on October 28, 2022, at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was born on February 13, 1992, in Kansas City, Missouri to DeMarco Hines and Nikisha (Butler) Jackson.  He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated in 2010 from Raytown High School in Raytown, Missouri. After high school, he briefly attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri.  Nick then spent years working in the customer service field, where he enjoyed taking care of the needs of others.  Nick was known as a prankster, a movie lover, and an avid sports fan who loved football and gymnastics.  He was an ardent Chiefs supporter, and always ready to cheer on his hometown team.

Nick was preceded into death by his father, DeMarco Hines, and his grandfather, Earl Wayne Weatherspoon.  He is survived by his daughter, Maelyh Butler of Dallas, Texas; his mother, Nikisha (Sean) Jackson of Waxahachie, Texas; his godmother: Monalisa Brownlee of Lenexa, Kansas; his brother: DeMarco Hines, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona; his sisters: Sicily Hines of The Colony, Texas, Kennedy Murff of Waxahachie, Texas, and Savannah Hines of Carthage, Texas; his maternal grandparents: Sarah Weatherspoon of Overland Park, Kansas, Michael Butler, Sr. of Kansas City, Missouri and Janette Smith of Kansas City, Missouri; his paternal grandparents: Donita (Earl) Hines-Parish of Mesa, Arizona and Jimmie Hines of Rock Island, Illinois; his uncles: Michael Butler of Overland Park, Kansas, Rodney (Timichalla) Butler of Huntsville, Alabama, and Erico Hines of Kansas City, Missouri; his aunts: Tynisa Jones of Overland Park, Kansas, Sade (Reginald II) Epperson of Raytown, Missouri, Kimberly (Tyrone) Holden of Chandler, Arizona, Kellie Miles, Kacy Barner, and Jimie Hines, all of Mesa, Arizona;  and a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
