Noah Alexander Mims, 21, departed this life on January 29, 2021 at his home in Grandview, Missouri. He was born on July 5, 1999 in Kansas City, Missouri to Erwin Mims and Priscilla Mims. He grew up in Grandview and graduated from Grandview High School. Noah Loved collecting and wearing tennis shoes, listening to a variety of music, and playing video games.
Noah was born with a condition named Sickle Cell Anemia. He was taught at an early age by his parents that you have a condition, but the condition does not have you. Simply saying you may have to modify some things, but you can, and will be able to do anything you put your mind to, and you will have our unconditional support. This was told throughout his life by his best cheer team; Mom and Dad.
Noah A. Mims was a kind and gentle soul. He had a smile that would light up any room that he entered. Noah had a presence about him that made others want to be around him. He was an observer, a listener, and one would have thought he was very quiet. He was quiet until he felt that there was something of substance that needed to be communicated. He possessed many characteristics in addition to being kind and gentle. He gave HOPE. Noah would give hope without saying a word. When he would be in pain and walk the halls of CM4 Henson, lap after lap. He was projecting hope; hoping that if I can walk one more time, I will feel a little better, or it would take my mind off this pain. He would not just give in to the pain and that within itself gave others the same, or not the same diagnosis on the floor hope. Hope to live life to the fullest is what Noah also projected to his family, cousins that are his age, and his friends. Noah had many things that he enjoyed; naming a few would be spending time with his family, his friends, shopping, dogs, and babies. But most of all, his tennis shoes. He would talk tennis shoes with anyone and everyone and at some point, to some he had the nickname, “The Tennis Shoe Guy ad CMH.”
He believed in a higher being and accepted Christ in his life. He also fought this disease with every fiber in his body with tremendous support. We know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (II Corinthians 5:8) He loved the song “A Change Is Going To Come” by Sam Cook. His change has come. No More Pain! No more fighting! No More Suffering! You have fought a good fight and walked the last mile of the way. Now, rest Nono. Rest in Peace. Love, Mom and Dad.
Noah is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother: Ophelia P. Mims; and his maternal great grandmother: Mable Slay.
He leaves to cherish his memories his parents: Erwin and Priscilla Mims; half-brother: Dexter Burton; Mabel (Charles) Brock; his aunts: Veniceza (Jerry) Critton, Felica Douglas, Angel Brock, Nakita Jackson; his uncles: Ernest Mims, Johnathon Mims, Eric Mims, Jimmy (Raschell) Brock, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
