Listen to Obituary

Olean Robins Booker was born May 23, 1953. She is the seventh child of Glin and Elnora Robins. Olean graduated from Paseo High School. Afterwards, she worked a number of years at Hallmark Cards and the Kansas City Police Department. Most recently, she was a customer service Representative at DST Systems. She accepted Christ at a young age at New Home C.O.G.I.C and remained an active member until her death. While at New Home, she served as the mission secretary and served as the president of the women department.. During her youth, she met and fell in love with Charles Booker. They married and had a son, Jason Andrae Booker.

“Lean” as her dad called her, was a selfless person. It is difficult to count how many nephews and family members she has welcomed into her home. Olean was Christ's hands and feet. She loved to cook and bake. It was normal for several family members and friends to stop by her home after church to enjoy her favorite meal of “turkey and dressing.” It was common for her to go to the food pantry and get food. Olean would make huge meals for several young men in the neighborhood who were struggling. Olean would say, “we all need help.”

Following the passing of both parents, Olean took sole custody of her eldest brother, Willie Lewis. She and “Chilly Willie” were inseparable. Olean made sure Lewis was the best dressed wherever he went. Anyone who knew Olean definitely had met Lewis. She was also very devoted to her grandkids, who affectionately called her “Gran-Gran.”. Olean spent many weekends watching cartoons and helping them learn new words and stories.

Those left to cherish Olean’s memory include: Her life-long partner and friend, Charles Booker. Their son, Jason Booker (Shavon Robinson), son Derek Booker, grandsons, Kevon and Nosaj, grand-daughter Brooklyn. Olean had seven brothers: Willie Lewis, John Lee (Cynthia) of Fort Wayne, IN; Wayne (Rosetta), Tyrone (Linda), Glin (Pam) and Jerome (Andrea). In addition, she has four sisters: Mary Evelyn (Sanford), DeLain Robins Climmons (Gerald) of Powder Springs, GA and Yvonne Robins Wright (Dave). Olean is preceded in death by her brother Hural “Pete” (Mary Ann) and her sister Louise Marie (Mother of Latonya Robins Gold)

Days before her transition, Olean took time to pray for each of her siblings and many of her nieces and nephews by name. In a final act of her unselfishness, she said, “I will tell mom and dad y'all said “hello. I love everybody!”
