Deacon Oliver W. Wynne Jr., 86, passed away on July 22, 2025, in the comfort of this home. He was the first-born child of Oliver W. Wynne Sr. and Margaret Pratt Wynne.

He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. Throughout his life, we heard many boyhood stories. Those stories for him never faded away. He received his formal education in Kansas City, Kansas, graduating proudly from Sumner High School in 1958. He was loyal to his class, serving as a co-chairman until his health no longer permitted him to do so.

Following his high school years, Oliver joined the United States Marines. After his military service, he spent many years working as a mechanic for Westfall GMC Truck Company and later Russell Stover Candy...also as a mechanic. Oliver was also a businessman, owning 2 laundry mats and several rental properties. His plan was to be a millionaire by age thirty and we believed he would do just that!

Oliver professed a love for Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of the New Light Missionary Baptist Church serving as a deacon, treasurer, and Sunday School teacher. He also contributed to the maintenance and upkeep of the church. He loved God and he loved New Light!!!

Sixty-eight years ago, Oliver met the love of this life, Alma Rena Harrell. They married on October 10, 1959. To their union, Valerie and Tyrence were born! The family has been bonded together for 65 years, and we are truly grateful to God for the good times as well as the not so good times. The family is truly inseparable. Even though Dad has gained his wings, we believe we will be united again.

Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver W. Wynne Sr. and Margaret Pratt Logan, two sisters; Mary Roland and Patricia Wynne Brown; one brother Joseph Wynne, his beloved grandmothers, Myrtle Berry and Velma Wynne.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Alma Rena Wynne, children; Valerie Lane (Cliff), Tyrence Wynne (Dynel); grandchildren, Anthony (Jenni), Corwan, Talisha, Taryn, Darrin, and Eric (Jennii), great grandchildren; Emma, Olivia, Miniyah, Mariah, Nicholas, Jaylen, and Madisyn. Great great grandchildren; Malaya and Trevion. Brothers; Randy Wynne, Frederick Wynne (Jackie), Carl Wynne (Lynette); sisters Rita Tucker (Emmett), Thelma Edwards (James – d), Donna Douglas (Ronnie), Judy Jones (Warren); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He loved you all!
