Ora Lee Stevenson was born on March 14, 1955, in Ferriday, Louisiana, to her parents who preceded her in death, Ernest Jackson and Annie B. Stevenson. On January 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, she peacefully transitioned from this life. Ora Lee was a longtime resident of Kansas City, MO, where she attended Paseo High School and built a life centered around faith, family, and community. She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother, caring sister, supportive aunt, and a true friend to many.
Ora Lee worked for the City of Kansas City in the Public Works and Water departments for more than 15 years, but that was only part of her story. She was a natural go-getter — always making a way and never afraid of hard work. If there was an opportunity, she was going to find it. Ora Lee had a strong hustle, a sharp mind, and a whole lot of determination. She was a faithful member of Greater Pentecostal Church, loved the Lord, and carried herself with a kind heart, and she kept it real — a spirit people respected, loved, and never forgot.
If you knew Ora Lee, you knew her joyful spirit. She loved to have a good time and was truly the life of the party. Whether there was music playing, a family gathering, or a celebration going on, she brought the energy and dance moves every time. She was also known for her stylish fashion and witty comebacks. And in true Ora Lee fashion, she would let you know she was feeling good with her favorite word — “ALRIGHT!”
She was preceded in death by her son, Tayro A. Stevenson Sr.; her grandson, Darrell L. Stevenson Jr.; her brothers, Daniel Jackson, Jerry Jackson, and Otis Jackson; her sisters, Carolyn Jackson, Odessa Jackson, and Joyce Leach; and her brothers, Ronald Stevenson and Donald Stevenson. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her beautiful daughter, Denise Conrad; her sons, Darrell L. Stevenson Sr. and Dennis Conrad Jr.; her honorary daughter, Kanetha Stevenson; her sisters, Ethel Jackson, Audrey Jackson, Alice Jackson, Ernestine Boswell, Veverly Baker, Valerie Baker, and Flora Stevenson; her brothers, Anthony Baker (Beverly) and Ernest Jackson Jr.; her only living aunt, Ola Mae Willis; and her uncle, Charles Whatley.
She also leaves a host of grandchildren: Rickey Lee, Rizson Canady, Princess Pitchford, Reigis Canady, Shyann Stevenson, Tehya Stevenson, Tayro Stevenson Jr., Kayle Conrad, Kayln Conrad, Karle Conrad, Martez Harrison Jr., and Kaleya Conrad. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Jay'Ceion Stevenson, Joseph Baker Jr., Myles Lee, Jadyn Johnson, and Reign Canady, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
