Ozella Elizabeth King, 90, passed away on January 24, 2026, at KC Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.
She was born on May 9, 1935, in St. Joseph, MO to Clifford Wallace and Dorothy Wallace. She graduated from Bartlett High School in St. Joseph, MO.
After graduating from high school, Ozella began work for Swope Parkway Health Center as a phlebotomist where she worked for 10+ years. Additionally, she worked as a social worker for Salvation Army and Baptist Ministries for a combined 30 plus years. Ozella retired in 1997 after 50 years in the workforce.
Ozella was involved in the community and worked as a volunteer. She enjoyed reading, dancing, and was very family orientated.
Ozella Married John King on July 19, 1970, in Kansas City, MO and they remained married until her death.
Ozella was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Wallace; her father, Clifford Wallace; her husband, John King; her children Arletha Mays, Cherry Shirley; siblings: Harvey Johnson, Halbert Johnson, and Hal Johnson.
Ozella is survived by: Karla Canada, Hanif (Roberta) Mays, Marcy Evans Mudd, Leanna (Larry) Evans, Natasha King; grandchildren, and great grandchildren; siblings; Herbie Johnson, and special friend, Martin Kliem from Maine.
